Psychic At Large

Oh SciFi channel. Why do you put on such great programs and then put on such utter crap? Why do you hurt me so?

I loved Farscape (I'm actually still a little sore that it was taken off the air). I love Stargate and the other Stargate and Firefly (thank you, by the way, for giving it a second chance, if only in rerun) and Battlestar Galactica. They are such good shows.

But then you have to disappoint me with such utter drivel. Why Crossing Over with John Edward? Why Psychic at Large? Sorry to break it to you, but psychics are fake. And not just a little fake, a lot fake. They have no superpowers, just a really bad stage act.

If they had real superpowers, why wouldn't they just get the Randi prize? It's there for the taking by anyone with real superpowers and yet it hasn't been taken yet. If they don't need the money, there are some very nice charities they could send it to.

I realize that high quality program cost a lot and that fake reality shows cost next to nothing. I understand the need for filler. By why this nonsense? Couldn't you find some filler that wasn't entirely reprehensible?

And don't get me started on the ghost episode that most tv shows have where they find out there wasn't a ghost and then they just have to have a wink at the end where they show that there really was a ghost, just a different one. Las Vegas did that. So did Quantum Leap. Two shows I ordinarily have genuine affection for.

Just stop it. Please. Just stop.
